Long description

Quinta da Romaneira is not only located close to the world-famous Quinta do Noval, but is also led by the same charismatic owner: Christian Seely. This great wine man was previously responsible for the successful revival of Noval, together with winemaker Antonio Agrellos. With equal success, the two Quinta da Romaneiras are being given a new lease of life.

The historic winery was renovated, the methods were modernized and a brand new wine cellar was built. Antonio made the wines until 2017, when his talented nephew Carlos took over. It is clear that Christian and Carlos are a strong duo. from the wonderful wines.

Take this spectacular Vintage Port for example. The weather conditions in 2019 were quite ideal in Romaneira. It was sunny and dry throughout the summer. Thanks to the slightly lower temperatures, the vines were sufficiently resistant to the low rainfall. It was also dry around harvest and not too hot. This allowed the grapes (touriga nacional, touriga francesa and sousão) to be harvested at the point of perfect ripeness in several picking sessions.



Once in the cellar, the grapes were trodden by foot in stainless steel, temperature-controlled fermentation vats (lagares). After fermentation, the wine was aged for twenty months in large used Port barrels (tonéis) in the Romaneira cellar.

The end result is a particularly impressive Vintage Port. It has the characteristic Romaneira expressive aromas, a seductive yet powerful structure and a dizzying length. Drink it at the earliest eight to fifteen years after the harvest, or let it Can easily be left to mature in the bottle for a few more years.

Drinking at

Delicious with various spicy cheeses or simply as a special evening port.

Tasting note

Deep purple-red port with a subtle aroma of stewed plum, cherry, liquorice and vanilla. Mouth-filling and mildly sweet in taste with a harmonious freshness and supple tannins. Impressive finish with black fruit, cocoa and tobacco.

Shelf life

Powerful port that can be kept for at least 25 years. Ideally drink it either in its youth or from 8-10 years of bottle maturation.
