Long description

Vermentino is the white specialty of the Italian island of Sardinia. The friendly cooperative Cantina del Vermentino Monti is – as the name suggests – an expert in wines from this grape and enjoys an excellent reputation for its beautiful Vermentino di Gallura.



The Isola's may bear the more modest designation of origin Vermentino di Sardegna, but we were particularly impressed by the quality of this wine. The grapes are grown in the hilly northwestern part of the island. The vineyards with poor granite soils are located at an altitude of 300 to 400 meters and are cooler than most southern vineyards. Perfect conditions for making wines with freshness and terroir expression.

After the harvest, a classic vinification for white wine follows: temperature-controlled fermentation and short maturation in stainless steel tanks.

It produces a beautifully pure, tasty Vermentino, with notes of stone fruit, grapefruit and almond. The typical bitterness in the aftertaste makes this wine particularly gastronomic. Consider, for example, pasta alle vongole, grilled fish or soft cheeses. Very nice, especially for its modest price!

Drink with

Accessible, smooth, fresh-dry white wine to enjoy as an aperitif or with salmon with fennel from the oven, pasta alle vongole or soft, young cheeses.

Tasting note

Beautiful white wine with a refined scent of peach, pear, melon, honeysuckle and anise. Wonderfully juicy with ripe stone fruit and an invigorating freshness. The final is mild with nuances of toast and almond.

Drink now: keeps well for up to 4 years after harvest.
