Information
From young rising star Josef Fischer
From the prestigious Wachau wine region
Pure fruit, juicy freshness and a long, dry aftertaste

Description

Josef Fischer (1989) may be a young winemaker, but he is anything but impetuous and brash. If you ask Josef, good wines are made with peace and time.

He picks the green veltliner for this elegant Federspiel from several of his Rieds or 'single vineyards' in Rossatz, located on the south bank of the Danube River. The sticks are up to 25 years old and are planted in different soil types (loam, sandstone and pebbles). Josef works the vineyards sustainably.

Once harvested, a minimalist vinification follows. Josef allows the grapes to ferment spontaneously in stainless steel tanks. When the fermentation is complete after about four weeks, the wine rests on the yeasts for a few months before bottling.

This method produces a pure, characteristic Wachau-Grüner, with notes of apple, pear and anise, juicy freshness and a beautifully persistent, dry aftertaste. Delicious as a stimulating aperitif and at the table.
