Description
Viticulture on Etna is centuries old. That is why there are still many contrade, tiny vineyards with mostly old vines, which were worked by small farmers. Marco de Grazia, the owner of Terre Nere, was one of the first producers to appreciate the unique character of these vineyards.
He ferments his contrade or crus separately from the start and mentions the name of the vineyard on the label. De Grazia likes to make a comparison with the premier crus in Burgundy, which are also distinguished for their unique terroir.
Moganazzi (0.7 hectare) is the latest addition to the Terre Nere range. The volcanic soil consists of ash and pumice stone, the sticks are between 40 and 100 years old. The nerello mascalese (and a tiny amount of nerello cappuccio) is harvested by hand.
The wood aging of about 18 months gives this already storable wine some extra complexity and storage potential. The Moganazzi is elegant and floral, with the characteristic invigorating freshness, but also the powerful structure. Drink it with nice meat dishes or mature cheeses.

Tasting note
Bright red in color, slightly evolving; powerful scent with spicy and ripe nuances of red fruit and roasted notes. Elegant entry and juicy flavor evolution with mild tannin in the aftertaste.
Shelf life
Drinkable from two to three years after harvest, can easily be kept for at least six years.
