Description
What a beautiful, elegant Southern French Viognier from Abbotts & Delaunay! Laurent Delaunay, scion of a Burgundy wine family, bought the small 'boutique winery' from the talented Australian Nerida Abbott in the village of Marseillette in 2005 and has since expanded the range.
The successful Les Fruits Sauvages series consists of fruity, smooth and elegant wines from one grape variety. The series owes its name to the fact that Laurent works with great respect for the land and preserves the wild plants around the vineyard as much as possible.
Laurent harvests the viognier grapes for this delicious specimen in vineyards at an altitude of about 150-200 meters in the Hérault and Aude, sandwiched between the Cevennes and the Pyrenees. The grapes are picked in the early morning and immediately transported to the cellar so that they can be processed in optimal condition.
A simple vinification takes place in the cellar: the grapes ferment at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks to retain as much freshness and fruitiness as possible. The wine then matures for some time on the yeasts, for just a little extra body and flavor intensity.
The end result is a delicious white wine, with the characteristic viognier aromas of white flowers and peach and a full, round taste. Just drink it as is, as a drink, or in combination with a vegetable quiche, chicken from the oven or ripe, hard cheeses.
Drink with
Elegant, smooth white wine to drink as an aperitif or with drinks. Ideal table wine with toast with rillettes, green salad with mango and walnuts, risotto with crayfish or ripe, hard cheeses.
Tasting note
Fragrant, dry white wine with aromas of white flowers, apricot, peach and melon. The taste is full, juicy with pure yellow fruit and refreshing acidity. Light peach peel bitters in the lingering finish.
