Description
The Lebanese Chateau Musar is one of the big names in the wine world of the Middle East, the birthplace of wine growing. About 25 kilometers north of Beirut, the Hochar family has been making beautiful wines in an 'Old World style' since 1930 from grapes from high-altitude plots (1000 meters).
Serge Hochar, the son of the founder Gaston and trained as an oenologist in Bordeaux, perfected the style of this beautiful domain that has become so famous. In addition to the main wine Chateau Musar, he introduced the Hochar Père et Fils.
The Cinsault, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come from relatively old vines and have a low yield of a maximum of 30 hl per hectare. After maturing for 6 months in small French oak casks, the wine is bottled unfiltered and without fining. The bottles are only marketed when the wine has a sufficiently ripe taste.
The Hochar has the famous 'Musar aromas' of herbs, fig fruit and oak and a beautiful, slightly matured taste with a long lasting aftertaste. Delicious with stews, lamb and matured, mild cheeses. A special feature!
Drink with
Refined red wine to enjoy on its own, or to drink with tagine with chicken, eggplant and olives, leg of lamb with Provencal herbs or fried peppers with marjoram and Parmesan.
Tasting note
Lightly matured red wine with a subtle scent of cherry, plum, fig, cloves and forest floor. Elegant and wonderfully juicy with supple tannins and balanced freshness. The finale is spicy with notes of laurel, thyme and toast.
Shelf life
At its best between 3 and 10 years after harvest.
