The second wine from cru classé Clerc Milon
Luxurious, rich and seductive, with dark fruit and oak
The 2015 is now drinking beautifully |
Description
Clerc Milon is a château in its own right. The house is a fifth cru classé in the Bordeaux classification of 1855, and counts Mouton Rothschild and Lafite Rothschild among its neighbors. It has been in the hands of the Rothschild family since 1970. Thanks to their efforts, Clerc Milon is today one of the most sought-after wines of Bordeaux.
Like many Bordeaux domains, this house also makes a so-called 'second wine': made from grapes from the same famous vineyards and according to almost the same dedicated method as the first wine, but drinking younger and more affordable.
The cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc for Pastourelle are harvested in small crates. A traditional Bordeaux vinification of fermentation, assembly and aging in small French oak barrels follows in the cellar.
This results in a beautiful Pauillac, with elegance, power and length, but also suppleness and roundness. Characteristic of a good Médoc, the Pastourelle has luxurious aromas and flavors of ripe, dark fruit and refined oak. The 2015 is now looking beautiful and we highly recommend it for a special dinner.
And the statue of the dancing couple depicted on the label? It once belonged to the Russian Empress Catherine the Great and can be admired in the wine museum of Mouton Rothschild.
Drink with
Impressive, robust red Bordeaux to drink with beautiful dishes, such as grilled sirloin steak with garlic and herbs, duck breast with mushrooms and sage or old Dutch cheese.
Tasting note
Ruby red wine with a complex scent of red cherry, blueberry, plum, mint and cedar wood. The taste is powerful and ripe with jammy red and black fruit, fresh acidity and supple tannins. Long lasting finish with laurel, nuts and toast.
Shelf life
Drinking from the age of 5; can be kept for approximately 15 years after harvest.
