Description

Affordable Chianti is not difficult to find – there is more than enough produced. Finding good affordable Chianti is a different discussion. Much of the generic Chianti production is not of convincing quality. This Chianti from Paxa pleasantly surprised us.

The winery, which takes its name from the Etruscan wine god (Fufluns Pacha), makes wines in the area that was once the empire of the Etruscans: Tuscany, Latium and Umbria. The winemaker is Marco Bernabei, son of the famous wine consultant Franco Bernabei. He was taught the wine trade at an early age, as well as the belief that wine should have consistent quality year after year.



He makes this smooth, ripe Chianti from the ancient Tuscan grape sangiovese, supplemented with 15% cabernet and merlot. The grapes come from various sunny vineyards in the Chianti area, located at an altitude of 250 meters. Once harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes are vinified separately.

After fermentation and pressing, the wines mature for about nine months, partly in stainless steel tanks, partly in wooden barrels. Finally, the different cuves are assembled and bottled. The result is a beautiful, accessible Chianti, with a juicy, fruity and seductive taste thanks to well-dosed oak. Delicious Tuscan red, for a remarkably competitive price.

Drink with

Accessible, slightly spicy red wine to drink with drinks or daily dinner. Delicious with pizza with salami, linguine with spinach, pumpkin and ricotta or risotto with artichokes, bacon and walnuts.

Tasting note

Ruby red wine with a subtle scent of cherry, currant, plum, clove and mocha. The taste is full and juicy with red fruit, stimulating acidity and powdery tannins. Smooth finish with toast and laurel.

Shelf life

Drink now and keep for 4 to 5 years after harvest.
