Description
Do you like wood-aged Chardonnay? Then it is very likely that this Triple G will become a big favorite! Master of Wine Jürgen von der Mark bottled this Limited Edition Weissburgunder-Chardonnay especially at our request and - as usual - exceeded all expectations.
Jürgen harvests the grapes for this luxurious white wine with his companion Guido Walter in specially selected vineyards in Ortenau, in northern Baden. With their southern exposure and granite soils, they have the perfect conditions for top quality Weissburgunder and Chardonnay.
To ensure the greatest possible concentration of flavor, Jürgen keeps yields low. After the harvest, he ferments and matures the wine for fifteen months in oak barrels (228-500L), a third of which are new and the rest used. This provides a nice balance between fruit expression and a seductive oak note. In accordance with his pure working method, Jürgen bottles the wine with only light filtering and hardly any added sulfite.
The result is astonishing. The Triple G has everything you want from a wood-aged white wine. It is lush and full, with notes of citrus, ripe stone fruit, vanilla, toast and roasted nuts. And the name? It stands for Ganz Großes Gewächs. A big nod to the prestigious German wine club VDP, of which Jürgen himself is not a member.
Drink with
Oak-aged, full-bodied white wine to enjoy solo. Also great with baked plaice with spring vegetables, risotto with seafood or salad with roasted pumpkin and almonds.
Tasting note
Lemon yellow wine with a seductive scent of candied lemon, peach, apricot, vanilla and roasted nuts. Powerful in taste with ripe citrus fruit, creamy soft filling and mild acidity. The finish is long with brioche and burnt butter.
Shelf life
Now delicious and can be kept for 6 to 7 years after harvest.
