Description
Since his first harvest in 2008, Patrick Piuze has been making waves in Chablis. As a former winemaker at Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard – a major producer – he knows most of the winegrowers in the area. With access to the best quality Chardonnay grapes, Piuze makes fantastic wines. Bougros (15 ha) is one of seven Grand Cru vineyards on the large hill near the village of Chablis.
Jancis Robinson and Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate praise Patrick's wines to the skies. Piuze's signature is pure finesse with a characteristic terroir expression (flint) and layering in the wines. Unfortunately, the production is very limited. From a fragmented offer of no less than 18 wines (!) we have been allowed to buy a few boxes of a Chablis (villages), Premier Cru and Grand Cru since 2010. GONE = GONE!
The Wine Advocate: One of the region's most active and dynamic micro-negociants (April 2014).
Drinking at
Great to drink on its own, but also goes perfectly with refined fish dishes.
Tasting note
Great finesse! The nose is remarkably open with nuances of pineapple, white peach and a light smokiness. The taste is powerful with citrus fruits and minerals in the minute-long aftertaste. After 7-10 years of bottle maturation, notes of honey will also develop in the characteristic full and elegant taste. Promising!
Shelf life
Easy to keep for ten years after harvest.
