Description
This Gris de Gris is not to be missed for lovers of a light-colored, elegant style of rosé. It is a so-called 'vin gris', or a rosé made like a white wine. Because the peels do not come into contact with the juice, it hardly acquires any color.
Winemaker Hugh Ryman makes it from the Grenache Gris grape, harvested around Carcassonne and in the Minervois. And that is how the wine got its name: a vin gris, made from Grenache Gris.
After manual picking, Ryman presses the grapes immediately upon arrival in the cellar. This is to minimize contact between skins and juice and to keep the color of the wine as light as possible. After pressing, he ferments the juice at a cool temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine matures on the yeasts for another three months before bottling.
The Gris de Gris has a beautiful, expressive scent, with intense notes of raspberry, grapefruit and watermelon. The taste is dry, juicy and stimulating. Ultimate terrace rosé, which is also great to drink with summer salads, quiche or light fish dishes.
Drink with
Fruity, stimulating rosé to drink solo on the terrace or as an aperitif. Great with couscous salad, various types of quiche or seafood from the grill.
