Description

Txakoli is a household name in the Spanish Basque Country, where this fresh white wine is a popular accompaniment to tapas and fish dishes. But one Txakoli is not the other.

So close to the cool ocean, the ripeness of the grapes can sometimes be a problem. Especially if the yield in the vineyard is high. Txakoli can therefore taste light and fairly tart with a residual sweetness of necessity.

Doniene Gorrondona is one of the best producers and harvests the indigenous hondarrabi zuri grapes when they are ripe. The team also harvests by hand for a first selection in the vineyard. The fermentation is done with the wild yeasts and then the wine matures on the lie.

You can taste the result in this beautiful white wine that goes well with mussels, for example.

Drink at

Nice dry white wine to drink as a refreshing aperitif, with tapas or light (starter) dishes with shellfish and crustaceans.

Tasting note

Subtly fragrant white wine with aromas of green apple, pear, peach and white blossom. Light-footed, beautifully fruity and fresh dry in taste with nuances of toast and almond in the persistent aftertaste.
