Description
David Sautereau's Sancerre is what you call a benchmark. This is Sancerre as Sancerre was meant to be.
David represents the tenth generation at the Sautereau family estate, located in Crézancy, just west of Sancerre. The winery has approximately 22 hectares of vineyards. Two thirds are devoted to Sauvignon Blanc, one third to Pinot Noir. The soils consist of pebbles, slate, limestone with fossil shells and marl.
David's main mission is optimal expression of the beautiful Sancerre terroir. That's why he leaves nothing to chance. He combines age-old family traditions with modern winemaking techniques that he mastered in Switzerland, the United States and Australia, among others.
His beautiful Sancerre has everything you expect from a good Sancerre: an expressive scent of green apple, boxwood and flint, stimulating fresh acidity, a slender but ripe taste and a persistent, chalk-dry aftertaste. Very nice!
Drink with
Fragrant, fresh-dry white wine to enjoy as an aperitif. Also great with grilled asparagus and peppers, green salad with fish, steamed scallop or soft (goat) cheeses.
Tasting note
Pale yellow wine with an expressive scent of Granny Smith, melon, boxwood and flint. Sleek style with ripe pit fruit and stimulating acidity. The finale is persistent and chalk dry.
