Description
It will not surprise you that the name grecanico refers to a likely Greek origin. But what few know is that recent research shows that this grape is identical to garganega, the grape of the northern Italian region of Soave.
Due to the location of Sicily, it is likely that the grecanico was first planted in Sicily and later spread throughout Italy. Provided it is harvested with a limited yield, from high and therefore cool vineyards, Grecanico produces a great white wine. Very original and pure in smell and taste.
The Terre di Giumara Grecanico has a characteristic and seductive fresh taste. With the added bonus of delicious juiciness thanks to perfect ripening under the Sicilian sun. Beautiful wine at the table, but its freshness also makes it very suitable as an aperitif.
New in the range: Sicilian wines from Caruso & Minini
Stefano Caruso and his brothers Francesco and Roberto have brought the wines of the old family estate near Marsala, on the west coast of Sicily, to a high level. The proximity to the sea provides cooling and the Sicilian sun shines generously.
The result: grapes with a beautiful balance between ripeness and mild acidity. The wines from Azienda Terre di Giumara impress with their great purity and the use of original, accessible-tasting native Sicilian grapes.
Drink with
Excellent accompaniment to not too spicy starters and fish dishes.
Tasting note
Ripe yellow fruit, apple and floral nuances in the scent; the taste is fresh, juicy and ends round and with a beautiful aromatic length.
