Description
The Californian family business Talley Vineyards has been around since 1986. It is located in the Arroyo Grande Valley in the Central Coast region. Their vineyards benefit from the cool wind influence from the Pacific Ocean. Talley is known for its stylish, refined and balanced Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs.
When it comes to Pinot, the Talleys are true pioneers: they were the first to plant Pinot Noir in the Arroyo Grande Valley in 1982. Their great inspiration are the wines from Burgundy. The domain, in its own words, produces 'a Burgundian style with Californian influence'.
The Estate Pinot Noir is Talley's red calling card. Thanks to the relatively cool climate in San Luis Obispo Coast, the grapes can ripen slowly and gradually. This creates aromatic wines with fresh acidity. After fermentation, the wine matures for thirteen months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.
Thus, the Estate Pinot is refined and lively, with ripe fruit and a beautiful, subtle oak influence. It tastes seductively of raspberries, cherries, pepper and cedar and has a persistent aftertaste. Drink this beautiful wine on its own, or in combination with tasty vegetable or poultry dishes.
Drink with
Beautiful, delicate red wine to drink on its own or with refined dishes. Pairs well with roast chicken with potatoes and beetroot salad, spicy beef or spaghetti with mushrooms, arugula and olives.
Tasting note
Light ruby red wine with a layered scent of cherry, raspberry, orange peel and subtle oak. The taste is mild and wonderfully juicy with ripe red fruit, balanced freshness and fine, silky tannins. Complex final with nuances of pepper and cinnamon.
