Description

It is not often that we can offer a white Burgundy of this quality for under twenty euros. We are therefore all the more delighted with this find from Mâcon-Bussières, which performs exceptionally well for its sympathetic price.

It is made at the small family estate Thierry Drouin, now managed by Thierry's son Charles-Edouard. The estate is located in Vergisson, overlooking the famous Roche de Solutré and produces Mâcon, Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé.

The Mâcon-Bussières stands out positively in the series because of its beautiful aromas, tension, liveliness and refined oak touch. The Chardonnay grapes for this wine are harvested in the vineyard 'Le Vieux Puits', named after the old well that is there. The north-westerly exposure ensures that the grapes retain a beautiful freshness despite the southern location in Burgundy.

After picking, a soft pressing follows. Fermentation and maturation on the yeasts take place in 50% French oak barrels and 50% stainless steel tanks. This gives a nice balance between fruitiness and oak influence.

The result is a beautiful white Burgundy with both refined freshness and ripeness and power. Delicious to drink on its own or to combine with refined dishes or creamy cheeses.
