Unique, pure and refined red Corsican
From the local sciaccarellu grape
Delicious on its own or with refined dishes.

Description

There is actually no wine in our range with which we can compare this striking, pure and refined red Corsican. Not so strange, because the Brama Sciaccarellu is made from the unknown indigenous Corsican grape variety sciaccarellu, planted in a very special vineyard.

Clos Venturi is the second estate of the Corsican winemaker Manu Venturi, who also runs Domaine Vico. The vineyard covers around 28 hectares and is located at an altitude of around 400 metres on a sandstone hill. Clos Venturi is surrounded by mountain peaks of up to 2000 metres altitude, which creates a unique microclimate with continental freshness and Mediterranean warmth.

Here Manu has planted several old Corsican grape varieties, including sciaccarellu. This grape is the same as the Tuscan Mammolo and produces light-colored red wines and rosés with floral and fruity aromas. In order to preserve and protect the special environment as much as possible, Manu Clos Venturi has been working biodynamically for many years.

Once nicely ripe, Manu picks the grapes by hand and destems them in the cellar. Fermentation takes place with the help of natural yeasts present on the grape in foeders and barriques. After fermentation, the wine matures for another fourteen to eighteen months in foeders.

And that produces a unique wine. The nose is refined, with notes of red fruit, pepper and toast, the taste is pure, fresh and refined, the wood influence subtle. A beautiful glass, highly recommended! And Brama? That means so much as 'sigh', referring to the wind that is always palpable on the island.
