Description

If you weren't already a fan of white Rioja, you will be after tasting this beautiful specimen. Viña del Lentisco is considered one of the top producers in the region and takes its white wines just as seriously as its reds.

Where Carmen and her team make Blanco Selección as a wine to keep, the 'regular' Blanco is accessible at a younger age. It is a blend of predominantly viura, supplemented with small amounts of garnacha blanca, malvasía and tempranillo blanco. The grapes come exclusively from their own vineyard in Alavesa, located directly next to the winery - a rarity in Rioja.

After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and pressed, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for six months in contact with the yeasts in French oak barrels. The yeasts are stirred weekly (bâtonnage). This produces an excellent white Rioja, which excels in an almost Burgundian finesse and a wonderful balance between fruit and oak influence.

Drink it on its own, with some toasted almonds and serrano ham, or pair it with stewed vegetables, paella or tortilla. Don't wait too long, because there are less than 8,000 bottles of this divine white bottled.
