Description
What a beautiful, classic white Douro from top house Romaneira. It is made from local grapes viosinho, gouveio, rabigato and boal do douro, harvested in various plots of the more than eighty hectares of steep terrace vineyards that the domain owns.
After harvest and pressing, winemaker Carlos Agrellos ferments the different grape varieties separately. He does this half in oak (20% new and 30% matured) and half in stainless steel tanks, for a nice balance between fresh fruit and wood influence.
The wine then matures for another six months, with the yeasts being stirred weekly for three months. This gives it more filling and suppleness.
The result is a powerful and impressive, but also very refined white, with notes of ripe stone fruit and subtle oak, and a beautiful tension and length. Drink this Douro classic preferably at the table, for example with grilled fish, poultry or root vegetables from the oven.
