Characteristic pinot noir freshness | |
Good match with poultry, rabbit stew or a mild cheese |
Pinot Noir at its best
German red wine with the scent of cherries, red berries and a mild oak tone. The taste is ripe and soft. A nice wine with poultry, rabbit stew or a mild cheese.
Christoph & Johannes Thörle
Brothers Christoph and Johannes Thörle took over the management of the family business in Saulheim, Rheinhessen, Germany's largest wine region, in 2006. They are ambitious and like to do things their own way. For example, they do not - like many typical German wine companies - have a wide range of different grape varieties.
They limit themselves to a handful of classic varieties such as Riesling and Silvaner for white, and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) for red. In the Spätburgunder wines, the Thörle brothers are looking for an optimal balance between acidity, aromatic intensity and ripeness.
The Gault & Millau wine guide (2015) sees it well: "Thörle is becoming increasingly refined, more Burgundian, as it were. The basic wines are wonderfully juicy, the mid-range impressive. A new highlight at a high level!"

What do we think?: | Gerrit: Bright red hue, something evolution; fresh fruit notes of cherries and red berries, with a mild oak note. The taste is round, ripe and soft, with a juicy and fragrant finish. |
