Full-bodied red wine from the French Bordeaux with an intense aroma of toasted oak coffee and berries. The full flavour comes into its own with beef or pork. Also delicious to drink as such.

Description

Antoine Touton, owner-winemaker of Château Sainte Barbe, has it right: unlike his compatriots, non-French people often drink red wine outside of meals.

It is logical that this creates a preference for round and soft tasting wines. Touton adapts his way of making wine to this: he harvests the grapes later - and therefore even riper - than usual.

In addition, he allows the grape skins to ferment for a relatively short time to obtain the softest possible flavour structure. This makes Château Sainte Barbe very pleasant even when young. But the wine can also easily age for a few years.

The merlot (80%) and cabernet grapes are harvested ripe and give the wine a pleasant softness. In combination with the oak maturation you get the suggestion of a luxurious saint-émilion or pomerol! A special wine especially for lovers of round full bordeaux.
