Bodegas Castelo de Medina

The successful winemakers of Castelo de Medina have chosen a different way to make wine from the verdejo grapes from their best located plots. This decision is working out very well. The previous harvest convincingly won the major Mundus Vini competition in Germany and was voted the best Spanish white wine.

Winemaker Sara Román saw less favorable harvest conditions, but nevertheless made a beautiful white wine. Particularly by keeping fermented wine in contact with the 'lie' (yeast cells) for a little longer, this specially selected Verdejo has that beautiful combination of freshness and a slightly 'greasy' taste.
