Description

L'Exclus is a special red wine in the portfolio of the talented vigneron Denis Alary. This is an original blend of 50% counoise grapes - the Pinot Noir of the south - and 50% Syrah. In addition, the fruit comes from a vineyard, half of which qualifies for the prestigious cairanne cru status and the other half only for country wine. Denis finds that distinction ridiculous. According to him, the entire vineyard is of cru level with L'Exclus as living proof. Since the first harvest in 2011, this cuvée has had very limited availability, so it is a real 'vin de garage'. The grapes ferment and ripen, just like the cru wines, in large wooden cuves (demi-muids of 600 liters). As a result, the wood influence is nicely dosed. An absolute trouvaille!
