Giuliano Montepulciano
Powerful Italian red wine with the scent of herbs, light oak and lots of ripe red fruit. The taste is soft and full. Delicious with fragrant meat and pasta dishes or with mild cheeses.
Collefrisio Vignaquadra Montepulciano
The eastern Italian wine region of Abruzzo has the potential to be a fantastic source of powerful, but also soft red wines. Yet the many cooperatives in this area often produce less refined and sometimes even raw wines.
Tenuta Giuliano shows that things can be done differently. Amadeo De Luca and Antonio Patricelli have quickly risen to the group of best winemakers in this region with this small and traditionally working azienda.
Their eleven hectares of richly filled vineyards are located on the foothills of the Majella. This is the second highest massif of the Apennines, with the peak of Monte Amaro at 2,793 meters. Here the montepulciano grapes are picked late. Their fully organically farmed vineyards here deliver a deeply colored, full and smooth red wine with an excellent taste balance.
In short, a striking example of a beautiful wine from a less 'chic' region. Partly due to the modest origin, the price-pleasure ratio is truly excellent.

Description
Montepulciano, the grape of Abruzzo, can be pleasantly rustic, but I had not expected such old-fashioned opulence. Generous and rich tasting.

Description
Such a generous and richly flavored Montepulciano that I wondered if the label was wrong. Montepulciano can be pleasantly rustic, but I had not expected such old-fashioned opulence. The whole is packed in sturdy wood, something that can often go wrong, so that the wine smells of sawdust and vanilla, but here it is dosed just right, a sturdy oak between all that sturdy fruit.
