Wood-aged Mendoza Malbec
Full and powerful red wine with a delicious soft taste and a beautiful aroma of ripe red fruit, oak coffee and some mint. Good to combine with tasty dishes of beef or game.
Italian from Mendoza
Wood-aged malbec from the Argentinian Chakana is the textbook example of the new generation of malbec wines from Mendoza. The Italian touch of owner Juan Pelizzatti winemaker Gabriel Bloise and advisor Alberto Antonini returns in the quest for refinement and freshness. It is therefore almost self-evident that high-altitude vineyards are chosen in Agrelo and Drummond, two locations on the foothills of the Andes.
Warm days interspersed with cool nights ensure ripe grapes that retain their fruitiness well. The blend of grapes from the two regions gives a beautiful wine that is distinctive from other Mendozabodegas that focus more on a sultry 'thick' taste. In addition, Chakana opts for maturing in casks made of refined French oak. The result? An impressively powerful but also very accessible malbec.
