A beautiful Falanghina from Campania
Southern Italian dry white wine made from the Falanghina grape. Smells nice of apricot pineapple and toast. The taste is full and balanced: delicious with dishes with fish or fine veal.
Vines that are over 45 years old
Pasquale Clemente is the driving force of this small winery in the hills behind Naples near Benevento. He farms biodynamically in the town of Montesarchio. But because of the bureaucratic burden, he categorically refuses to apply for a certificate for this. A characteristic Italian attitude in our opinion!
Pasquale makes regional wines from fiano, greco, aglianico and falanghina grapes. His winery is a true paradise for the adventurous wine lover who is looking for typicality and has an eye for the great cultural-historical values of this region. Pasquale is also a gifted winemaker and his wines regularly win prizes. As recently as late 2013, Italian wine writer Luca Maroni rated one of his red wines as Miglior Vino Rosso d'Italia 2014.
The falanghina has been cloned from very old vines and the current vineyard located at an altitude of over 500 meters is now an average of 45 years old.
In combination with the biodynamic way of working, this results in a low yield with concentrated grapes. The harvest does not take place until the second week of October. The hand-picked grapes are then quickly transported to the wine cellar for modern temperature-controlled vinification. In combination with the coolness in the vineyard, this ensures wines with a wonderful freshness despite their southern Italian origin. Looking for originality? Then try this falanghina from Frattasi!
