Tasting note Domaine Girard Savigny les Beaune
Full French red wine with the scent of ripe red fruit and a touch of oak. Very tasty with traditional Burgundian dishes such as buf bourguignon, but also with entrecôte with red wine sauce.
Description
Jean-Jacques Girard owns 18 hectares of vineyard in the heart of the Côte d'Or in central Burgundy. Since 1977, he has managed the family estate, which is more than five centuries old, together with his wife and son. In the valley of Savigny-les-Beaune at the foot of the premier cru vineyards, Girard has planted pinot noir which is used for his red municipal appellation wine. The fully destemmed harvest ferments in traditional open vats where the skins and kernels (marc) are regularly immersed (pigeage). Maturation takes place for 15 months in oak barrels, of which approximately 10% is new. The result is a spicy full red wine with length and substance.
