Description

Michele Manelli and his two partners have taken Azienda Salcheto to the top of the appellation. He makes vino nobile as we believe it should be, with the elegant and fresh expression of the prugnolo grape without the dominance of oak.

The prugnolo gentile is the local variant of the famous Tuscan sangiovese and the specialty of the village of Montepulciano. The azienda's vineyards - twenty hectares in total - are completely organically farmed and are among the highest grape plantations in the area. The yield is low (only one bottle per vine) and the yield is therefore of high quality.

The mild extraction of tannins and colorants during fermentation and maturation in refined oak do justice to the top quality of the grapes. Result: a wine with elegance, fine tannins and complex and beautiful aromas; a great wine that only two other producers received the highest rating in the wine guide Gambero Rosso. Tuscany at the top level!
