Tasting note

A ruby red wine with the scent of ripe plums, cherries, strawberries and herbs and in the taste the expression of the terroir that manifests itself in a multitude of flavors such as cinnamon, figs, honey and candied fruit, followed by an extremely full and soft aftertaste .

Description

This great wine is made from cinsault from 40 to 100 year old sticks (15%) and grenache (85%).

Chateauneuf du Pape wines are made from 13 authorized grapes (8 blue and 5 white). Almost no domain uses all grapes. The Saint Préfert estate uses clairette and rousanne for the white wine and grenache, syrah, mourvèdre and cinsault for the red wines.
The domain was founded in 1920 by Fernand Serre, an Avignon pharmacist, and took the first steps in the winemaker's path. After his death, his son Camille takes over the winery and Saint Préfert becomes one of the first domains to export his bottled wines. Since 2003, Saint Préfert has been run by the passionate Isabel Ferrando and today the property is 17 ha. Isabel is an absolute winner, a newcomer who is already creating a furore in the small world of Chateauneuf du Pape. All major magazines, Wine Spectator and Robert Parker's Wine Advocate in the lead, are wildly enthusiastic about her style and wines.
The yields per ha are only 20 hl per ha and this makes for beautifully concentrated wines with a lot of finesse.
The wines stay in (partly) new demi muids barrels (600 liters) for 18 months.
