Description
Saint-Péray is the southernmost cru of the northern Rhône (just next to Cornas) and has a reputation for gourmet white wines from the local marsanne and roussanne grapes.
Take this beautiful Saint-Péray from domaine Durand. Lime and granite in the terraced vineyards provide a special terroir expression.
The Durand brothers age a third of the wine in oak. They do this in a controlled and restrained manner, without toast aromas. As a result, the wood aging provides a nice support, while the special aromas of the grapes come into their own.
The wine is therefore reminiscent of a beautiful white Burgundy: full, powerful and intense in taste, with a beautiful freshness, seductive creaminess and long aftertaste. Special!
