Information
Elegant and refined white from Alentejo
From native Portuguese white grapes
Wine made without haste, like in the old days
As an aperitif or with tapas snacks such as olives, cheese and smoked salmon

Antão Vaz meets Arinto

Beautiful dry white wine with an aroma of ripe yellow fruit and floral nuances. The flavor is soft with a mild, fresh and sour development. Fragrant and juicy aftertaste.

Stupid Rafael at his best

This special white wine from Mouchão is composed of native Portuguese white grapes. At this top estate east of Lisbon, wine is made without haste, as in the past.

The Antão Vaz and Arinto grapes are picked and fermented separately. The cool fermentation, which is unavoidable for white wines, is the only technical concession that has been made to the classic way of making wine.

The first thing you notice in the white Dom Rafael is the enormous freshness in the pure taste. You wouldn't expect that from a dry white wine from the warm Alentejo in Portugal! According to co-owner Iain Reynolds, this is down to a combination of soil, microclimate and very old vines.

The freshness is therefore purely natural and does not come from the acidification of the grape juice, as is common in many warm areas. Serve the wine chilled (at 10°C), as an aperitif or with tapas snacks such as olives, cheese or smoked salmon.
