Information
Unique pinot noir from Beaujolais
From idiosyncratic winemaker Jean-Paul Brun
Refined, Burgundian style
Particularly pure, subtle and fruity

Tasting note Jean Paul Brun Pinot Noir

This is the only Pinot Noir in Brun's range and of convincing quality. This great harvest helps the wine to reach a higher class. Smooth, with ripe Pinot Noir fruit and beautifully refined.

Jean Paul Brun Winemaker

Jean-Paul Brun is a Bourguignon par excellence. For him, no 'malpractices' such as adding cultivated yeasts that give the wine a candy-like character. No, Jean-Paul loves good old-fashioned Beaujolais and therefore uses a Burgundian style of wine making.

He destems the grapes and ferments them in the traditional way in used oak barrels. Chaptalizing (adding sugar) for higher alcohol percentages is out of the question for him. Furthermore, Brun does not add sulfites. He looks for pure fruit and terroir expression in his wines, so free from any frills.

Brun's Burgundian approach is not only reflected in his winemaking methods, but also in his plantings. In addition to gamay, the most important grape in Beaujolais, he has chardonnay and - as one of the few - pinot noir in his vineyards. He makes a wine from the latter with a Burgundy appellation. Elegant, pure and exceptionally refined. Delicious Burgundy Pinot, but not for a Burgundy price.
