Description
The Limited Release wines (or actually Limited Release in Afrikaans) bottled exclusively for us from DeMorgenzon from Stellenbosch are a real opportunity! The winery makes these wines from top quality grapes that just did not make it into the domain's prestige wines, such as the Maestro or the Reserve wines.
This also applies to this Grenache Blanc. The Grenache grapes, which are highly resistant to the dry climate in South Africa, are planted in a single, northeast-oriented plot. The beautiful, sun-ripened grapes are partly intended for the luxurious white Maestro Rhône blend. Alastair bottles the remaining barrels separately and exclusively for us.
After manual harvesting, the Grenache is pressed into whole bunches. The fermentation using only the grape's own yeasts takes place in a concrete egg and large, used French oak barrels. The wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation - which provides extra creaminess and suppleness - and nine months of maturation.
The result is an exciting, fruity white wine, with a rich, full and slightly spicy taste. It is delicious to enjoy on its own, but also great at the table, for example with creamy poultry dishes.
Alastair Rimmer from DeMorgenzon
"The Grenache blanc block is the only white (variety) vine, which has a northeastern aspect on that property. The weathered granite soil on which this growth ensures that the resulting wyn has great tension and minerality. That grape is parsed in a whole cluster before the liggies. extracted juice into a combination of old oak barrel and concrete egg. The part that is fermented in concrete is allowed to go through malolactic fermentation. That wine produces a delicate bouquet of white flower and black lime drops, which results in the taste. door white perske with a mineral texture, what a spicy finish. This wine is a wonderful combination of light and vars, but the great complexity and think will reward those who are patient enough to allow a few bottles to age. "
