A delicious Mendoza Malbec
Purple-red in color and sultry fruity in smell, with spicy nuances. The taste is round, mild and full, the aftertaste is aromatic and persistent. A beautifully balanced red wine with length and flexibility.
Gabriel Bloise the head of Chakana
Gabriel Bloise, the winemaker of Chakana, does not like bombastic wines with a lot of oak. He strives for a smooth, elegant, drinkable style. Moreover, he is an avid supporter of organic cultivation, which he has now largely implemented at Chakana.
The vineyards are located at the foot of the Andes, at an altitude of at least 1,000 meters. The climate here is more moderate than in the lower plains, with a large difference in day and night temperatures. As a result, the grapes ripen more slowly and longer, so that the tannins in the skins also ripen. Yet Gabriel guards the fresh style sought by him, with which his wines distinguish themselves from the many 'thick' and almost sweet-tasting Mendoza wines.
He makes this delicious red Malbec with a nice balance between fruit, freshness and roundness. The little bit of oak gives some extra complexity, but remains subdued in the background. The Atorrante Malbec is, in our opinion, ideal as an everyday wine and more than lives up to its reputation as a meat companion.
