Tasting notes La Tour Beaumont

Bright red in colour, powerful fruity in aroma with juicy red fruit and a nuance of red beets. The taste is juicy, round and aromatic.

Description

Cabernet Franc is the red grape of the great Loire wines such as Bourgueil and Chinon. These wines seem to be made especially for the Parisian brasseries and bistros where the greater part of the production is consumed, often slightly chilled. The grape is related to (and probably also the predecessor of) the much better known Cabernet Sauvignon and produces a lighter, more supple red wine with less drying tannin.

Provided it is harvested ripe of course, because otherwise Cabernet Franc is rough and sour. This one, from Pierre Morgeau, is of exemplary quality with its accessible, fresh-supple taste and beautiful fruit expression. Without wood maturation, because according to Pierre that does not fit in with the ideal way of serving. Young, slightly cool and preferably with a typical bistro meal such as pate with baguette, meal salads or white meat.
