Castelo de Medina Nouveau Tempranillo
Bright red wine with a pure, seductive scent of fresh red fruit (raspberry and cherry). The taste is full and juicy with mild tannins and a lingering finish. Fruity and smooth red wine to drink as is or to serve with lightly spiced vegetable and meat dishes. Excellent shelf life up to three years after harvest.
Medina, known for our Verdejo from the Rueda
A Spanish wine with a French name? Yes, we thought that was a bit strange when we first saw this wine. But once we tasted it, we understood the winemaker's intent. The designation 'nouveau' is inextricably linked to the famous Beaujolais Nouveau.
Sara Román, the winemaker of Castelo de Medina, made a Spanish version of it. Yet it is not a copy of a light and fresh Beaujolais. The Spanish tempranillo grape is different from the gamay from Beaujolais. It is also warmer in the Rueda area of origin, which means that the grapes ripen.
In our opinion, the Castelo Medina Nouveau is a Beaujolais plus with a Spanish character. More ripe fruit, more color and more juiciness in the taste. Simply very tasty and a wonderful change in the range of 'thick', full-bodied wines that cannot be used at any time.
Feel free to serve the Nouveau at cellar temperature, between 10 and 12°C. Nice with a summer barbecue, quiches or salads with chicken.
