Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo (Northern Italy, Australia, USA, Argentina)
It owes its name to the fogging (nebbia) that frequently takes place in Piemonte. The grape of famous wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco. Late-ripening grape variety with a thick skin. Nicknamed the Armored Giant for its firm tannic structure and high acidity. Excellent storage potential with rapid discolouration due to relatively fast oxidation of the dyes.
Recognizable aromas: red fruit (red cherry, raspberry, elderberry); black fruits (blackberry, black cherry); dried fruits (plum, dates, fig); floral (roses); earthy (wet leaves, moss, autumn, earth, forest, truffle, mushrooms); herbs (anise); spices (tobacco, licorice); animal (leather, game); wood (vanilla, oak, liquorice).
