Description

Modern winemaking begins for Alexandre Relvas, the owner of São Miguel, with great attention to the work in the vineyard. Only with optimally ripe grapes is he able to make full and soft red wines. This distinguishes him from the mass producers who have to work with less homogeneously ripe grapes. The vineyards of São Miguel are located in the Alentejo, east of Lisbon, currently considered by many to be the most exciting wine region in Portugal. This exclusive red wine is made exclusively from Alicante Bouschet grapes. This grape variety - also called 'teinturier' - has a special characteristic: the flesh and therefore also the juice of the grapes is colored red. After fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in small oak casks. Expressive red wine with ripe fruit tones and oak in smell and taste.

Tasting note

Intense deep red in color, with purple nuances and a powerful aroma of blackberries, caramel and burnt oak. The taste is full, round and powerful and ends with ripe, soft tannins and a persistent aftertaste.
