Description
When the family of Paolo de Marchi bought vineyards in the villages of Isole and Olena in the sixties of the last century, Chianti was still sold in wicker bottles as a cheap red wine. Nowadays, the Chianti of Isole e Olena is one of the top wines of the region and especially famous for its refined style and expression of the Sangiovese grape. The very best wine of the Marchi is made exclusively from that famous and so characteristic Tuscan grape. The vineyard is located on a hill in San Donato in Poggio in the heart of the Chianti Classico area. After fermentation, the wine matures for about 14 months in small oak barrels of different origins. The complexity and quality of this wine are generally recognized. Rightly a “Super Tuscan”.
