Description

Travelers (voyageurs), that is what the Montepulciano and Nielluccio grapes in the vineyards of François Collard certainly are. The montepulciano is very Italian, the nielluccio is a specialty of Corsica and the local variant of sangiovese. The fact that they have settled in the French Costières de Nîmes has to do with the fact that climate change is also tangible for François.

Due to the rising temperatures, he has been experimenting with various Mediterranean grape varieties for years. François was so pleased with the results with the montepulciano and nielluccio that he decided to create a unique blend.

He ferments equal parts montepulciano and nielluccio spontaneously, without adding sulfite. The wine matures for six months in concrete barrels and is then bottled. The Montepulciano gives ripeness and a soft structure, the Nielluccio finesse and freshness.

Les Voyageurs is a fantastic, original red organic wine, from surprising grape varieties, but with the recognizable Mourgues du Grès signature of tension, freshness and suppleness. Drink it plain or in combination with dried French or Italian meats. This 2020 is the first harvest, but in our opinion it leaves us wanting more!

Beautiful fruity, slightly spicy red wine to enjoy on its own or with a variety of dishes. Beautiful with lasagna, pasta with game ragout or eggplant with tomato and cheese from the oven.

Tasting note

Youthful, purple-red wine with a refined scent of cherry, plum, blackcurrant, licorice and juniper berry. The taste is full and smooth with pure fruit, refreshing acidity and fine tannin. Elegant aftertaste with nuances of pepper and laurel.

Shelf life

Now beautiful and easy to keep for up to 5 years after harvest.
