Anyone who wants to taste modern South Africa would do well to try the Nieuwe Trek wines from Jaco and Cerina Niekerk. This series of beautiful wines is their ode to South Africa off the beaten track: adventurous and modern, yet unmistakably South African.
The dazzling Eerste Oes Sauvignon Blanc is the latest addition to the series. Eerste Oes is a special selection of early-picked sauvignon grapes from the Darling region, approximately 65 kilometers above Cape Town. Thanks to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, the area is relatively cool and therefore particularly suitable for an aromatic grape such as Sauvignon.
To preserve as much of the seductive aromas and natural freshness of the grapes as possible, the Van Niekerks harvest the grapes relatively early. Almost naturally, they ferment the juice exclusively in stainless steel tanks after pressing, so as not to lose any of the sparkling and crisply fresh character. The end result is an impressively expressive, juicy fresh, but above all 'delicious' Sauvignon of excellent quality.
This First Oes is a treat to drink as a drink or aperitif wine because of its fresh, fruity and invigorating character. Thanks to its typical South African full, smooth taste, it is also delicious at the table, for example with grilled fish with a fresh (tomato) salad. A Sauvignon that definitely leaves you wanting more!

Perfect to drink as an aperitif or with drinks, but also very suitable with salads with fish or chicken and light starters.
Tasting note
Seductive dry white wine with an expressive scent of granny smith, peach and passion fruit. Wonderfully juicy and with an invigorating freshness in the taste. The finale is nice and dry and persistent.
