White or red wine
After the grapes are plucked and headed to the cellar for wine making, other winemaking processes are used to make white and red wine. One of the main differences is that red wine is fermented with the grape skin. The peel provides the red color in the wine. The redder the wine, the longer the skin has been in the must. The must is the freshly pressed, but not yet fermented, grape juice.
White wine is mainly made from white grapes. However, this does not always have to be the case. In red wine, the skin of the grape provides the color. So white wine can also be made from blue grapes, when the skin is separated from the must, before the fermentation starts. White wine can therefore be made from white and blue grapes
