Germany
Viticulture in Germany is, despite the northern location of the country by size, the fourth of the wine-producing countries in Europe. In both quantity and quality, this country has a solid wine economy. 20% of the annual production is exported on average.
Germany has 13 quality wine-growing areas. Except for two in the former East Germany, these are located in the southwest and west. Six of them are in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition to quality wine growing areas, there are still vineyards spread over other parts of the country. Table and country wines are produced in the north of the country.
