Tasting note Pencarrow Sauvignon Blanc
Intensely fragrant, dry white wine with aromas of grapefruit, passion fruit and green herbs. Pure, crispy fresh and fine in texture. Lively and beautifully fruity in the final.
Description
The Pencarrow Sauvignon comes from the cellar of Palliser Estate, one of New Zealand's excellent estates. Winemaker Guy MacMaster uses first-class grapes from organically farmed vineyards. They produce a round and seductive white wine, of course in the characteristic, sparkling clean and expressive style of this relatively young and ultra-modern wine country.
The vineyards are located in Martinborough, the southernmost wine region on the North Island. Due to its location, it is slightly warmer here than in the famous Marlborough on the South Island. You can taste that in the wines. This is also the case in the Pencarrow, which is ripe and intense in taste. Palliser's top wines mature on the yeast cells ('sur lie') with regular bâtonnage (stirring the wine and yeast).
Guy MacMaster also uses this technique for the Pencarrow Sauvignon, but limits the duration to 3 months. This gives the wine a nice juicy taste, while the beautiful aroma intensity is retained. An asset to our range!
