Mild and fruity; perfect house and drinks wine |
Description
Frascati is Lazio's most famous region of origin. The DOC takes its name from the village of the same name east of Rome - where most of the production is drunk.
Wine has been made in Frascati since 5000 BC. The star grape of the area is the white Malvasia bianca di candia. This grape is a cross between Muscat d'Alexandrie and Schiava Grossa and gives a seductive aroma to the wine.
Frascati supplies both complex, cellar-worthy white wines and nice and smooth, affordable varieties, such as this Prima Luna. It is made of malvasia di candia, supplemented with trebbiano. The grapes are harvested in higher altitude vineyards (100-400 meters) with volcanic soils.
Once picked, a classic white wine vinification takes place in the cellar: after a mild pressing, fermentation follows in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. This method produces a mild, fruity white wine, with notes of pear, peach and flowers.
The Prima Luna is wonderfully accessible and widely applicable and also has an original and high-quality origin. A perfect house wine!
Drink with
Accessible, fruity and mild white wine to drink solo or with drinks. Also nice with salads and light (fish) dishes, such as pasta salad with scampi, stuffed fish soup or mushroom ravioli.
Tasting note
Pale yellow wine with a coy scent of apple, pear, peach and white flowers. Beautifully juicy and smooth in taste with white fruit and mild acidity. Elegant, dry finish with light almond nuances.
