Predominantly nebbiolo with a little vespolina
Elegant, with refined red fruit, savory & minerality
Beautiful now, but can also mature for a few more years |
An overwhelming Rosé
Beautiful rosato with an orange-pink hue and a powerful, spicy aroma and nuances of ripe red fruit. The taste is fresh and balanced and has a full structure and persistent aftertaste. Excellent with many fish or meat dishes, for example from the grill or with spicy pasta or pizza.
Piemonte Rosé at its best
What a sublime rosato, this Rosa del Rosa by Luca de Marchi! Lessona may be especially famous for its impressive, powerful and refined red wines from nebbiolo, but Luca proves that the sandy, mineral-rich terroir of the region is also ideal for rosé of superb quality.
He makes his rosato from the famous Piedmont grape nebbiolo, supplemented with local vespolina. The grapes are partly planted in various vineyards in Lessona, and partly in the Madonna degli Angeli vineyard with 45-90 year old vines in Bramaterra.
Luca harvests the grapes by hand. They are then sorted, destemmed and gently pressed. After fermentation, the wine matures for some time on the yeasts in stainless steel tanks, and then for some time in the bottle.
Once bottled, the Rosa del Rosa is a brilliant rosé. Refined red fruit and delicate floral notes in the scent, a savory, salty and mineral character in the taste. The juicy fruit and fresh acidity give this beautiful rosé tension and liveliness, the firm structure provides ripening potential. Juicy and tempting, gastronomic and cellar-worthy; In short, a bull's eye!
PRESS REF: Vinous: 93/100 points
The 2019 Sperino Rosa del Rosa is stunning, opening to reveal depths of ripe peach and strawberry, with hints of cumin, ginger, dried orange, and roses. It floods the palate with silky textures, tugging at the cheeks as zesty acids settle in, then soothing through sweet liquid florals and ripe fruit. The finish is long, showing a hint of fine tannins, yet not austere; instead tactile, perfectly balanced with a hint of savory spice and just begging me to take another sip. This is a blend of Nebbiolo and Vespolina that is gorgeous right now, but may even get better with a little time in the cellar. Frankly, it was hard to put the glass down. – (harvest 2019) Eric Guido, May 2020
