Delicious with nut cake or old hard cheeses

Description

Quinta da Romaneira is one of the historic Port houses of the Douro. As early as 1872, Christie's auctioned two Ports of Romaneira from 1861 and 1863: the first single quinta Ports traded here. However, the house is by no means stuck in history. With the arrival of Christian Seely in 2004, Romaneira was catapulted into the 21st century in no time.

The vineyards were renovated, a state of the art new wine cellar was built and the vinification process was modernized. Today, Romaneira belongs to the elite of Douro wineries and enjoys a reputation for both still and fortified wines.

This refined Tawny is made from tinta roriz, touriga franca and tinta barocca. The grapes come 100% from Romaneira's own vineyards, a specialty in the Douro. Those vineyards are also all classified as 'A'; top terroir!

After picking, the grapes are trampled into stainless steel, temperature-controlled lagares. The wine then matures for another five years in used, large wooden barrels. This gives the Tawny extra complexity and beautiful ripening tones. Drink it for example with nut cakes with caramel, or old, hard cheeses. A beautiful Port!
