Description
Quinta da Romaneira is the second prestige project in the Douro by wine personality Christian Seely. He was previously responsible for the renaissance of top house Quinta do Noval. In 2004 he became co-owner of Romaneira, the second largest wine estate in the Douro. He made every effort to bring this historic house with its breathtaking terraced vineyards to the level of the best Douro houses.
That he succeeded wonderfully well, is proven by the beautiful red and white wines as well as the impressive Ports of Romaneira. Take this beautiful Late Bottled Vintage, made from typical Douro grapes touriga nacional, touriga franca and tinto cao. A real single quinta LBV, because all grapes come from our own vineyards - a special feature in the Douro.
Once picked, the grapes are closely trodden in the traditional lagares for optimal extraction of color and tannin. But with a modern twist: these vats used to be made of stone, Christian Seely had them made of stainless steel in order to control the temperature of the must. After fermentation, winemaker Carlos Agrellos matures the LBV for sixty months in wooden barrels made of chestnut and oak.
The result is a classic and very beautiful Late Bottled Vintage, with notes of fresh and dried fruit and spices, and a velvety but also powerful structure. To preserve as much of the taste as possible, the wine is bottled unfiltered. The bottle may therefore still contain some sediment. Drink this beautiful Port in its youth or after a few years of bottle aging, in combination with cheese, a dessert, or just after a meal. Decanting recommended.

Wonderful with a cheese plate or as a dessert wine.
Tasting note
Deep ruby red Port with an intense scent of black currant, blackberry and cedar wood. Powerful, full and mildly sweet in taste with jammy fruit, ripe tannins and balanced freshness. The finale is long with raisins and smoky oak.
shelf life
Can easily be kept for 2-3 weeks after opening, unopened for at least 10 years after harvest.
