Information
One of the most famous vineyards of the Palatinate
Sandwiched between top terroirs Pechstein and Kirchenstück
Powerful, concentrated and mineral |
Jesuitengarten was, as the name suggests, once part of the Jesuit monastery in Neustadt. Wine has been made in this historic vineyard for centuries. Sandwiched between Pechstein and Kirchenstück, the vineyard combines the best of both vineyards. The bottom is characterized by basalt, the cool location provides fresh acids. Characteristic of the wine are a floral nose, juicy stone fruit, minerality and impressive length. Beautiful with slightly spicy, refined Asian dishes.
Press ref:
Vinous 93/100 points (2017 harvest). High-toned, penetratingly green herbal and bittersweetly musky floral aromas (lavender, gentian and narcissus) set the stage for a performance remarkable in its tactile sense of herbal pungency and cooling trigeminal stimulation. Raw-squash-like waxiness and earthiness reflect slightly more obvious malolactic transformation than detected in other von Buhl 2017s, but that is not at all disturbing. The vibrantly sustained finish is hauntingly floral. Just give this some time to challenge its Pechstein and Kirchenstück stablemates!
