A delicious Rosso di Montalcino Riserva DOCG
Garnet red wine with a complex aroma of ripe red fruit (cherry, raspberry) supplemented with spices (cloves, vanilla). The taste is pure, full and medium intense with fresh acids and fine, spicy tannins in the long finish.
The Sandro Chia DOCG not to be missed!
Castello di Romitorio is not only an impressive 12th-century fortress towering over the Montalcino hills, it is also one of the region's premier Brunello estates. The castello is owned by the artist Sandro Chia. He bought the dilapidated estate in the 1980s and decided to restore not only the building, but also the vineyards.
At the time, Sandro's choice of location was looked closely at, namely the cooler, northwestern part of the region. It now appears that he made an extremely smart choice. Many wines from this exclusive Tuscan region today struggle with high alcohol percentages due to the warm climate.
Romitorio's wines, on the other hand, are always remarkably elegant and drinkable. This also applies to the Rosso, sometimes affectionately called Brunello's little brother. Like Brunello, Rosso di Montalcino is also made from 100% sangiovese.
The aging time of Rosso is only much shorter, making the wine more accessible and faster to drink. This beautiful, classic Italian with its ripe tannins is an excellent food wine. For example, drink it in combination with roasted meat, hearty pasta or polenta dishes.
Drink at
Refined, oak-aged red wine with a medium-intense flavor structure that combines well with spicy pastas and spicy casseroles.
